A Day in My Life in Sierra Leone

🌞 Soft, Simple, Beautiful

By Ray of Sunna

Living in Sierra Leone feels like living inside a gentle rhythm slow mornings, warm sun, fresh air, the scent of the ocean, and the softness of everyday life that makes you breathe a little deeper.

My days here aren’t fancy or complicated. They’re peaceful… intentionally.

Here’s a simple glimpse into what my everyday life looks like on this side of the world.

🌿 Morning Calm: Sunlight, Prayer & Peace

I start my day before the sun fully rises. The air feels soft, the world is quiet, and the birds remind you that a new day is a gift.

I pray.
I breathe.
I sit in gratitude.

There’s something about praying in Sierra Leone that feels different like the sky is closer and the world is slower. After that, I drink warm water with lemon or mint from the garden. Nothing fancy, just nourishing.

🌱 A Walk Through My Garden

My garden is my happy place. A little jungle of hibiscus, papaya, tropical greens, and the most dramatic flowers bursting with color. I pick what’s growing that day hibiscus, bougainvillea, peacock flowers and I make a small arrangement for the kitchen.

Sometimes nature teaches you more than books ever will.

🍲 Breakfast the Salone Way

Breakfast is usually simple:
– tea
– fresh fruit
– or leftover soup from the night before

If I’m craving comfort, then pepper soup with green bananas is the way. Nothing hugs the soul like that.

💛 Creative Work & Ray of Sunna Projects

This part of my day brings me joy. I create:
– flat-lay outfits
– recipe cards
– floral arrangements
– gentle self-care blogs
– lifestyle visuals for Ray of Sunna

Sierra Leone inspires me in a way that other places never could, the colors, the pace, the warmth. Everything feels more authentic, more soulful.

🌊 Afternoon Beach Moments

Some days, I take a break and drive to Bureh Beach.
The water is always calm, the breeze is gentle, and the world feels endlessly kind. Even 20 minutes at the beach changes your whole energy.

The ocean doesn’t just wash your feet it washes your mind.

🕯️ Evening Soft Life

My evenings are all about softness:
– A warm shower
– Candlelight
– Light dinner
– Quiet time with God
– Writing
– Or listening to the night breeze outside with the sound of the ocean

I end the day the same way I started it: grateful.
Grateful for peace.
Grateful for growth.
Grateful for the simple life that feels full.

🌼 Why I Love Life in Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone has a softness that holds you.
A slowness that heals you.
A beauty that humbles you.
A warmth that feels like love.

It’s not perfect but it feels real.
And real is enough.
